Was thumbing through the December 2016 issue of BoatUS magazine and saw an article for this stuff called Rescue Tape. Sounds like it would survive a nuclear war. Anybody ever try this stuff?

I looked it up -- it's the self-fusing tape you stretch then wrap around an object so it overlaps. It has a tenacious grip on itself and is durable. Yes, it's pricey - especially when you buy it from a booth at the boat show -- but it's legit and when you need it you don't care about the price. I think it will repair - at least dramatically reduce the flow of - a leaky pipe or hose. I've used it to hold a split shovel handle.

If you are talking about a product like Rust-Oleum leak seal tape it is really good stuff. I would not use it as a fix but for a get you home it works well in a number of ways.

Yes, I've used to wrap exhaust hose that sprang a leak. The army uses in an emergency kit they send out with vehicles in battle in case they get a round in a hose etc.
Good to keep in your car/truck tool box.
