I have been looking at this site now,and can't believe the information on here. I have grown up with Marinettes my whole life. My uncle first had a 28 Fisherman, then moved on to a '89 32' Sedan which he still owns. This year, me and my wife found what I believe was a good deal on a '84 39' Sedan. We love it! So far so good, as it definitely needs cosmetic work, but have been pleasantly surprised with the mechanicals. This site has been amazing with providing information. I do all my own work and have already used tips found on here. Thank you to all.
I do have a question. My boat resides in Catawba in West Harbor. There are Marinettes everywhere, and I often wonder if any of them are people on this site. I know there are, but I don't know how to identify them. My question is this: Is there a list anywhere linking boat names to members user names? When we see Marinettes out, it would be neat to know who they are, from this site.

Bret,

Welcome on board Applause What a great first post I’ve been thinking of something along those lines for several years now Think Well I guess it’s time to stop thinking & start DOING. If any one else is interested PM docsnow, your name, the Admirals name (optional), the vessels name, your home port, the marina (noncompulsory) 1 picture of your BigM ( I think U can PM pix) & I’ll compile some sort of listing lets say like under Boating, Marina & Water Quality Topics.Thread space & lock it so only Administrators can post in that topic so it doesn’t get all jumbled up with true lies & other sea stories.Whistle Now that if Mr Joe Howard, the head Administrator or second in Command jralbert (Joel) have no objections to this idea? I’m open to any & all suggestions & or ideas. Anxious

Tim,

I bet when U take her out on a weekend cruise she don’t care about your curb appeal with a 2 day old beard, beer breath, holey jeans etc.Anxious (have U looked in the mirror lately)Angel she just cranks over takes Ya to ports unknown sit there dockside waiting for your next command U should be proud as a peacock that a 38 yr young lady like that floats & services U well. Just think of all the hell she been through in the last 38 years sure her mascara may be running a little & the lipstick may be smeared but what the heck how many 38 yr old plastic boats are even afloat yet alone not in the boat bone yard be PROUD of that BigM cause she’s proven she’s PROUD of U ole Buddy Applause Besides do U know how many cans of BUD LITES I had to drink so they could recycle them cans so they could build that fine vessel.d'oh! Shhh BTW to All U only have to submit what one feels comfortable in entering even if it’s just your vessels name & the State U preside in that’s Ok too Applause

Speaking of boat dogs...While on CG AUx patrol yesterday, I saw a bow rider going along at a good clip with a big old Lab riding up front, looking like a hood arnament, with a really proud look on his face! "Take that, you landlubber mutts!"

My hull paint is 43 years old, got you by 5 years! I replaced the alligatored deck paint last year with DruaBak...a little disappointed when it bubbled up when I spilled gas on it during my first fill up this year. Other than that is is a very safe non-skid surface.

A friend with a 28' Fisherman used 500 grit paper on his hull this spring and was pleased with the results after removing the old oxidized paint she shined like new...well almost. I may try and do the same next spring but my BigM will remain a highly modified dive boat.

My pictures will have to wait until I replace the OSB & ply box I created over the engine, my 327 sticks 4" above the weather decking. I have some 1/4" plate that has to be cut & welded into a proper engine cover. Until then the OSB works fine to allow me to exercize my first passion, scuba diving on 150 year old schooners.
