Norb posted this interesting detective saga:
After trying many unsuccessful fixes on my port side 318 I think(KNOCK ON WOOD) it's fixed. Engine would roll back and quit at higher RPM(2800-2900)after running for hour or so (times differed). Engine would start back up and run again for an undetermined amount of time. Tried all new filters from tank to carb. Ran a lot of good gas through the engine. Various other attempts didn't help.
THE REST OF THE STORY:
Ran for 9 and a half hours over the weekend on the Ohio. Not a peep from the engine.
We started the engine and wiggled every wire and line and found that one on the ignition, when wiggled, engine quit. Tightened up the lead, sprayed all other electrical connections and haven't had any more problems. Don't know if this helps anyone but it sure make boating a lot more fun not having to wonder when the engine is going to quit.
Moral: Shake those electrical leads with engine running. Worked for me so far.
