In all honesty, the Steelers were lucky to get out of Detroit with a victory. The Lions lost, but they were in the game yet again!

44* at the thermometer on the wall of We Be Jammin' at 0600 this morning(with two 1500W heaters going for the last 24 hrs). Skipped the underarm rakeout as the wash cloth froze on the counter in the head(had the door pulled shut)....Nice and warm under the blankets in th' captains quarters but I was reminded of sleeping in the back room at home as a kid(socks on my hands, 'boggin pulled over my head, clothes on and socks on my feet). You know - th' good ole' days....

I always wonder during the first cold snap if I properly winterized everything on the boat.
I hate this weather.
Next couple months, just to keep my sanity, I'll be dreaming about painting the hull and other spring prep.

The freezing cold wind blew the water out of the west end of Lake Erie the last few days. The Sandusky Bay is quite low and frozen.
I was really looking forward to global warming. Think

Hey Karl, I was thinking about driving up to Marblehead and visiting my boat at Bay Point. I don't like to go more than a couple weeks without checking on it and making sure everything is in order. You know, just poke around maybe sit and daydream of warmer days. Does that mean I'm crazy, obsessive compulsive, or just bored?.. All of the above? I would have liked to have been up there Wednesday or Thursday when they were calling for 10-14ft waves... That would be a sight! Seriously, I think it's a good idea to go check on everything to make sure there isn't an issue brewing that you could have stopped before it got out of hand..Plus, at least you are on the boat in some way!

I hear you, Sean. It gets real bad after the holidays.

Gotta keep checking on her to keep your sanity.

By the way, I thought Bay Point was turning into condo land? I take it the marina is staying open? Last I heard they were forcing all the mobile homes from the beach area. That would have been a nice place to have a little cottage.

Checking the boat in or out of the water is always a good idea.

I just got back from mine and it is in the water... but... I thought it would be a good idea to keep the head window open a little for ventalation. So I did even though my inside voice said don't!

Ok screen was slid back and window slide much farther back and the critter (I believe it was a racoon) did some searching around. Got into my head chemicals and knock some stuff over. Ok no electrical and at least I had the head door closed...so he obvously lost interest and moved on or went for reienforcements.

Several years ago up north I had a sailboat on L.M. We tarped the boat and all was well.. NOT! Heavy snow pulled so hard on the canvas it pushed the stantions and broke the bonding. Water then went into the boat through the bolts and runined the interior on the Port side so checking is better than writting checks!

Getting warmer here in Fl. Been going down to mid low 20's here at night, for us THATS COLD!! Been thinking of Docs Drop Down Butt Pants!!! Sitting here downstairs, MaMa Mermaid said --I feel a draft of cold air sitting here, I thought ME TOO! I looked a ALL the GLASS WINDOWS along the back of my house and made a mental note, HHMM maybe I shouln't have installed over 70 windows when I built this house to see the water!!! Went out the next day and took ya'll advise and bought an Electric Heater, ( gave up on the Gas Grill idea) LAST ONE ON THE SHELF AT HOME DEPOT!! Fired it off, on High did pretty good, today had to put on another sweater, thinking darn I feel a cold Draft, Looked at the window latches on the sliding windows--most were unlocked!!! Got up and shoved 28 windows down about 3/8 of an inch, then locked them!!!! Went upstairs and found 14 windows letting in friggen COLD AIR!!! STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!!!! Warm Dog

By tomorrow i believe Blue springs will look just the same ! They usely have to get the .... S-hip ... H-igh ... I-n... T-ransit barge to break up any ice that accumulates, wouldn't start yesterday and honey pump was frozen. The locals may have to start using the on shore facilitys .

A local up here in northern Michigan had an old steel tug. He poured the bow/bilge with cement, a local commodity, and would break harbor ice for years afterwards.
