That looks like it is bare bottom. One of the MARINETTE'S at the harbor went bare and had soo many zebra mussels that the entire hull looked like a grater.

That's 'cause the owner didn't run the heck out of it like the Coasties do. With US providing the gas!

Jeff

Note: Interesting that "us" (taxpayers) and "US" (meaning USA) are spelled the same.

A few Questions On the bare bottom BigM First how long has been in the water?Than does herun the boat a lot or when he does, does he just putter along & run it toward the higher RPM ? Or is it used as a floating cottage ? what do the other boats with A/F look like ? Cause this has been a topic hashed over many times there have been Pro’s & con’s on different A/F’s a many members have chastised this or that particular brand A/F paint where as another swears by the same product. The ablative A/F paint are made to wear off by movement thru the water consequently removing the fouling that occurs while the vessel is slipped. A good product I have found to work is call SCATT it was formulated for the Go Fast Cigarette type boats it’s more of colorless barrier coat . I use it on my R I B but must be ran at high speeds which my R I B is, the only place were some slime gathers is at the sitting water line but is easily cleaned off with soft brush scrubbing periodically & what does gather cleans off easily. I have been very pleased with it’s out come. Applause This past season I didn’t apply any (el-Cheapo ) & I paid at the Fall pull out. Brick wall d'oh!
By Googling "SCATT Anti fouling one can read up on the product"

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way.I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

The last picture is an older 47 foot motor lifeboat. Somewhere in the USCG sites is their specifications for underwater aluminum paint schedule. I wil try to find them. Jim
