Nice...I like the way your railing goes down the sides, mine ends near the front of the cabin.

Nice boat. Question: why are finger piers up so high? Can't be much of a tide change on the lake.

I was there when the new marina was put in in the 90's. We had high water and they wanted the finger's to never be underwater again. Then the drought came right after it was built and the lake water level dropped by quite a few feet. Now instead of a couple feet to the dock it was 6 or more. I used to store my boats and had a slip in the early 80's where the big boat is now. That is in the Trail Creek picture in Michigan City, IN. Nice boat!

Joel, the water levels in Lake Michigan and lake Huron are down three feet from the levels in 1980s when our Marina was built.I had to lower our walkway so we could safely board our boat.Eight years ago I worked off the ice the first winter we bought it and lowered /modified with steps and a handrail. This was right after our first season there and while working in the bilge I hear a loud ker thump and quickly stood up only to see my poor wife on her knees rubbing her behind. She had lost her footing while trying to board the boat from three feet above it . Darn lucky she did not break anything. We actually had a laugh afterwards that if it were not for a little extra padding on her posterior she would have really gotten hurt.Poor thing had a bruise the size and shape/color of a small eggplant. The lower levels have wreaked havoc on our sea walls. The land surrounding us wants to keep pushing the walls inward as there is not as much water pressure to hold them back.We have shored up the sea walls with iron, new sheeting and tiebacks .Hopefully this will hold up (pun intended)for a long time.

As a side note.We have only about four feet of water under us in our slip. That is an average depth in most marinas upstream of the main Harbor(Which is dredged to an average 12-19 feet) right off the big lake in South Haven.

I thought that this global warming was suposed to melt all the glaciers and the water levels would go up. So the lakes would be full and California would be under water. So it would be a good thing....
