Please Help. I am the new owner of a 1972 Marinette Express Cruiser. The fuel tank has rust and debris in the tank. What are my options with this? Should I replace the tank or ? Thanks in advance, Rob "Great Escape" 32ft 1972 Express Twin 318's Located at LBYC On the Ohio River at mile marker 480

Hate to say it, but you need to replace it. Aluminum is probably the best, but it needs to be properly installed. Jeff "...reality is not nearly as lovely as the world of Liberal Land. No wonder so many people want to go there." - Tom Sowell

Mine is galvinized steel and I had the same problems. Took it to a radiator shop and they were able to clean it out and then use some kind of coating on the inside. He said that they use it a lot on motercycle tanks. It has been 5-6years and is still good.

Here's a suggestion: Since the cockpit deck will have to come out, it'd be a good time to replace IT as well (unless it's new). Jeff "...reality is not nearly as lovely as the world of Liberal Land. No wonder so many people want to go there." - Tom Sowell

Rob,I have a 73 express that has some problems with rust from tank. My water seperators catch most of the rust and the filter before the the carb catches the rest. I check them often. I've looked at pulling the tank. I think on an 32ft express a hatch could be cut over the tank and tank lifted out between the cross braces. If your deck is in need of replacement, I agree time to do both. Welcome to the forum. Send some photos of your express .We are all hooked on .
