This cleaner will work to get off those nasty black streaks in your hull and also clean the waterline stripe:

Alumisol brightener.

You can find it at any commercial truck or trailer dealer. Also known as "trailer wash". It contains hydrofloric acid. Comes in gallon jugs and looks pink. I just wiped it on with a sponge (use rubber gloves). Wait about 5 minutes and hose off. Also works good on the aluminum stair treads to make them look brand new. CAUTION: keep it away from the glass windows. It will etch glass.

Thanks, Craig

When we clean our hull we are not cleaning alluminum. We are cleaning the coating on the alluminum.

I would try a test sample this stuff sounds like it has hydrochoric acid in it since it will etch glass.

I don't know about Awlgrip, but it doesn't hurt the original paint at all. I would assume it would be ok since it's not a solvent.
