While we are talking trim tabs in a couple of threads already, I was on EBAY and saw an Automatic trim tab controller made by Bennett so I went to their site and read up on it. Reads like it was ready made for Marinettes, You can turn it on while running and then zero it out when the trim is just right to your liking and it will lock on and make adjustments on the fly to maintain that exact attitude. Being used to my other boat and it weighing 4X what the BigM does this listing and adjusting drives me nuts and is really the only thing I have found not to love about my 39S. Granted I have a boat load of people quite often and they are always moving and stiring about the boat or over accumulating on one side or the other it gets tiresome constantly making tab adjustments, I spend more time doing that than driving otherwise. If you read on the Bennett site they are useable with the joystick controls most of us has as well as the newer rocker switches and I have measured and the control fits perfectly on the helm right below my tab switch.

For what it is worth they also have conversion kits with new cylinder tops that double as the senders and they have readouts or new rocker switches that double as the controls and readouts for the helm. I have to red more here just to make sure I am correct on the cylinder tops" saw a picture" and assumed.

I have one on my 32'. In calm seas < 3', works great, but never trust it in chop or around boat wakes - won't react quickly enough. A lot of it is because of the shallow draft of our hulls...

Would I spring for a new one? Depends. Wouldn't be on the top of my list, but it's still nice to have. Setting "Zero" is a little less intuitive than you might think (no visual feedback on the unit I have, just lights that blink).

Using any of the manual trim tab controls automatically disables the unit - this is a safety feature.

Side note - When I bought my boat, it had been shipped from the east coast. They miswired that control, when reassembling and it reacted opposite of what it was supposed to do - scary moment. I thought the boat was going to flip :(

This sounds like just what the doctor ordered!

Now I need the perscription for the winning loto ticket.
http://www.starmarinedep...0+Auto+Tab+Control.html
has them for $55 less than e-bay.

I got a set of used Benett trim tabs. What/how would I check them out BEFORE I mount them? Any advise.
