mine keeps running wont shut off by self,any ideas?

do you have new pump or old one you either have a leak in pipping or psi switch is bad or out of adjustment are you drawing from tank if pump empties tank and your sinks are all off I would say listen for bilge pump to start then look for a hole in systme

1. Leak somewhere so it can't make full pressure

2. Air leak on the intake side

3. Pressure switch on the pump screwed up, or

4. Gremlins!

Jeff is right. The first time I filled the tank and started the pump it ran constantly. Then the bilge pump started running. Someone had not reconnected the lines to the hot water tank. Everything ran okay after someone reconnected the lines.

Just be glad a marina water hose wasn't hoked up to your boat! Someone did that at my marina last year and their boat sank in the slip. The filthy oil in the motors rose to the surface, entered the cabin, and.... What a mess!

i had the same issue and it was a loose fitting going to the hot water heater. also last year my pump broke down. i replaced the old fan belt pump with the small sealed unit. it is great, more quiet and faster to pump and shut off.

I had a small leak on the pressure relief valve on top of hot water tank. Was enough to make the pump cycle a few times every once in a while.

Got one of those new pumps too. Best upgrade.
Those OEM pumps were a Rube Goldberg setup. And they are not cheap!!

I found that when my pump continues to run I am out of water. Be sure the tank has enough water to pump. Sometimes things are simple (like me).

Got mine at West Marine, a Jabsco. I suggest at least 3.5 GPM size, with an accumulator tank.
