Wow, went to boat yesterday and watched the bilge pump push Blue water overboard Think . As soon as I walked in cabin I became aware of the problem ( not hard to detect a leak in head system in 95 degree temp).d'oh! Let the fun begin Holding tank just fit with a little Vaseline out the wine cellar hatch. 3 yes I said three d'oh! silver dollar holes in the bottom of that old tank. Can't believe it took this long to leak.Applause ordered new one this morning and be back in business, sitting around on the throne making important decisions by Thursday!

From what I have read and heard NO more aluminum tanks for our BigM . Was not aware that they could rot like that.

My fresh water tank rotted. Couldn't find a replacement so rehabbed
the old one and waiting for it to be reinstalled. Filled the bilge with
fresh water. Now im suspicious of my old old holding tank after
my experience with my water tank and your holding tank problem.

d'oh! My biggest problem is trying to find a replacement tank with the same fittings as what I had. May end up fabricating. I also was thinking of pulling my fresh water tank and inspecting it, especially since it is accessible now.Think .
Anybody got any ideas on a good tank source. Mine was a 55 gal holding tank. Not sure I need one that big, Heck I cant hold enough fuel to stay out long enough to fill that bad boy, ha ha. But I need it to have 2 1.5 inch fittings on top sides for 2 separate heads and a pump out fitting on bottom edge with a 5/8 vent fitting. NO MORE aluminum tanks for me.

Theres a online site called The Tank Depot, might be a little pricey but they have all the tanks, fittings and things. Give it a look . I think theres a plastic fab shop in K town that made one for one of the boats at the marina. Probably can fab one up out of aluminum or thin ss but my two cents worth would be the plastic , they can make them any size and shape.

Here's another source. When I was looking for a water tank, friend gave me this place: http://plastic-mart.com/ They can custom make to your specs. He said they were good but I ended up getting a cheap one from ebay.

:d/ Yippie the new tank is in and new head installed. what a job in 96 degrees, A/C conked out, oh well it's done and now I have a good place to do some readingDrool . Ended up fixing several weak spots in the water system while in the whine cellar and did some major wire clean up work, what a mess I'll bet there was 100 feet of wire that had been cut and left hangin in there over the years. Thanks to all for suggestions on tanks, ended up going with a 35 gallon plastic tank and did some modifications to it.

Thanks Jeff, once you get past that sweet odorSick its actually pretty easy. Installing the haed was the hardest part. Got a new Johnson quiet electric (yeah right, must of had a deaf person design this one) head had to do some rewire and plumb work but its in.
