Interesting you should send me this, am about to post a situiation that happened to me this weekend and I used to be a LIFEGUARD!! Jumped in with a buddy to cool off, riptide blew us away from the boat with the girls in it, also had a chop on the water, rolled over on my back and injested more waves than air, losing strengh at 65. Young friend is a Jock, also health instructor at the YMCA here and in great shape, the reason I DIDN'T THROW HIM IN A LIFE JACKET BEFORE I JUMPED IN-I ALWAYS JUST TOSS THEM OUT-THANK GOD I DID JUST THROW OUT THE ONE CUSHION!!! HE TREW IT TO ME AS I WAS FADING AND WAS TRYING TO SWIM TO THE DRIFTING BOAT, GOING AWAY FROM US!! Saw he was fading and not gaining, he was returning to me to hang on the cushion, when our wives got the my centerconsole going and came to our RESCUE!!! THIS WAS A VERY SCARY EVENT!!! REMEMBERED THINKING-THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING TO ME!!!!! By then they had drifted about 500ft away. Always teach them to run THE BOAT-THANK GOODNESS THE THOUGHT AND DIDN'T PANIC-ALSO THAT THE BOAT STARTED, ECT-------ALWAYS TOSS IN LIFEJACKETS--OR WEAR THEM-TEACH THE GIRLS TO RUN THE BOAT--LUCKYDOG--Any of you know how to post this on the forum?

Thanks Tronteck for posting that for me-E Mail me off site and tell me how to do it, maybey I'll fiqure it out. When running my big boat I tend to be a little more serious about saftey, I also tie off jackets in the water and supervise the swimming activities. I was in my center console when I made the above mistake and also in a Creek backwater basin with not much tidal flow, been swimming in that Creek 30 years. NEVER A UNDERCURRENT!! I got to comfortable and let my gaurd down!!!! I ALSO GOT VERY LUCKY!! Not proud of my mistake-but thought I'dSHARE IT WITH YOU GUYS SO YOU DON'T MAKE THE SAME-IF IT SAVES ONE LIFE-AND YOU STOP AND THINK ABOUT SAFETY-IT'S WORTH THIS POSTING!!!!! Years ago living in the islands, I would have them drop me off on a reef and free float across the top of the reef in the current with a hawian sling, free dive & spear fish along the way and have them pick me up on the down end of the reef with lunch!!! A easy mile trip!! AGE HAS TAKEN ITS TOLL!!! From our last age survey done on site--WE AREN'T SPRING CHICKENS ANYMORE---BE SAFE---LUCKY DOG
