Anyone have a copy of the station selector booklet or manual? I'm having trouble engaging/disengaging upper and lower stations. I think the unit on the rudders needs to be cleaned and lubed but I would like to get a diagram of everything before I take it apart.
I don't even know if there ever was a manual/part diagram for that thing.

Thanks,
Karl

Tim,
Good idea. I'll check for cable fatigue.

Sean,
Only if you have cable steering. You will see the lever to the right of the lower helm wheel on the later models.

Hydraulic steering does not apply.

I have cable steering..I have a small black lever on the king autopilot, I just assumed it was for that.. I don't use it the auto pilot since I don't really know how, and I don't think it is hooked up properly from what I can tell...Hmm, there is a small push/pull type switch under the wheel area, below where the helm cabinette recesses, near the shore power plug.. .. Sounds like a solenoid engages when you pull it.. Asked the previous owner what it was one time and he said he never knew it was there..

I'm assuming your boat is 85 or older??
The 86 and later models have a wooden lower helm and just to the right of the wheel is a black lever that you pull and rotate. There is a placard mounted above the lever that instructs how it works. Its just another sleeved cables like the throttle cables that runs to the rudder arm.

I don't know what the solenoid noise could be unless the older style used a solenoid instead of cable.

The only solenoid control on my helm is for the parallel switch.
