Anyone have a line on 1/4" tinted lexan? I took the shrink wrap off today to find that the flybridge winshield cracked. Trying to avoid buying a full sheet of lexan. Anyone have any ideas??

Lexan should work well long as you don't run the windshield wipers. I used non-tinted Lexan for the side windows and it's worked well. Tinted is too dark there 'cause two sheets overlap. One thickness only in the windshield would be fine.

I'm thinking he's talking about the windscreen on the flybridge (about 8" high), not the windshield, which I don'd think I'd use any plastic on... :)

Oh! That one was Plexiglass on mine. I know that 'cause it snagged on the antenna going under the bridge and shattered all over the place.

Hey guys, Thanks for the help. Norm, I'll try Soltis that you mentioned. Jeff, it is the bridge windshield that cracked. I think the marina tightened up the shrink wrap to tight and cracked the windshield.

Its not worth the effort. If I blame the marina, I'm sure they will get their money back over time by adding a little to each job I have them do. If I make an insurance claim, I'll end up paying for that with my next renewal. Sad part is, from what I see its going to cost me @ $300 for a sheet of lexan. This stuff isn't cheap. Maybe it would be easier to find Norms boat and borrow his windshield?? This is my luck, I listed the boat with a broker a couple weeks back. Now I want it to look perfect and this happens!

Steve,

Which piece do U need is it one of the bigger front ones or one of the side pieces ? Think with a little
luck it’s the little corner ones. Not talking I’ll run down to Soltis (about 3miles away) & see what they want
for a piece cut to size. Besides I haven’t seen that cute little counter girl in awhile. Anxious Angel Once I know
what piece it is I can take measurements off mine I’m sure they’re cookie cutter pieces Think

Norm,
My luck isn't that good! It is the main windshield that cracked. If you happen to know the full size of the windshield that would be great. I'm hoping someone has a remnant that will be large enough to cut out a windshield, instead of buying a full sheet.

Steve,

I’ll get the sizes to U shortly. Seeing it’s raining I’ll even do U one better I’ll take the sizes to
Soltis & see what they’ll let one go for have to go by there this morning anyway. Than if it fits
your pocket book maybe we could meet ½ way for U to get it. Oh what the hell I’ll ran out to the
shop the size is 37 3/4" x 9" the holes are approx.. 6" apart may I sugest that U drill the holes
yourself the keyword being approx. like the hole are off a little from one another on the 6" on
center. Sorry I didn’t get back to U sooner but been up at the boat since Fri. She’s ready to dunk
all depends on the weather when I go. If my buddy didn’t need his trailer back shortly I’d just haul it
over there & let it set on the trailer & replace the F/B hate to dunk Her with this crazy MI.
weather, might be 50* today & 0* tomorrow “UKWIM” Be back at U later this morning.

Hey Norm,

Thanks for checking Soltis. I do have one concern you mentioned 37" x 9" being the size. I think the size is closer to 96" x 12" rough before cutting to exact measurements. My windshield is one piece going across. Is yours 2 pieces across?

Steve,

You are right upon a closer looksee’s it is one piece W/S, d'oh! but mine is only 89 3/4" long x 9“ wide I
assumed that at the S.S. uprights it was cut so as if it cracked one wouldn’t have to buy a full
W/S. AnyWho these are the prices for 96" x 12" the light smoke is $72 .40 & the dark smoke is
$93.92 plus tax. Hopefully U have the lighter shade as I do. Pray I’ll send U a P.M. with my PH# if U
decide to go ahead with Soltis give me a call & we can hash things over. Think

Norm,

Thanks for the info on the plastics place, the name escapes me at the moment. I stopped by there today and purchased the bronze polycarbonate. I actually picked up a couple of small pieces as well for the side part of the windshield.. I figured with my luck the bronze would be a different tint than what is currently on the bridge. Anyway $138 later, I have everything I need now to cut out a new windshield.

Thanks again!!

Thanks Doc....I am gonna stop by there this week and grab one of these wind screens...
Mine was all scratched up so I pained it black years ago...looks good painted but really kills your short range visibility....
for 75 bucks...thats a sure fire fix...was that for the shaping as well?
The Beatings will continue until Morale improves....

Steve,

Glad to hear the plan came together. Plus I’d like to thank you for making me aware that the F/B
wind screen was one piece & I was able to stop a minute crack at a screw from spreading by
drilling a small at the end of the crack about a 1/4" long. Went up to the boat yesterday & put a
coat of polish on her now she’s ready to be hauled west just a few minor this & that’s to do but
them are windy day projects Oh crap I forgot about putting the F/B back on.d'oh! All depends on the
weather now Whistle Boo hoo!
