My project 32' had no seats so I sat down today to order the parts. I'm nowhere near a big marine store so I have to use catalogs. I failed.

Here is what I am starting with. I have two mounted 2 3/8" diameter pedestal posts. These are plain tubes. One for the driver is 8 7/8" above the deck. One for the passenger which is 10 1/2" above the deck. The difference of 1 5/8" is exactly the same width as a Garelick slider mechanism. So I get matching seats with mounting plates. I set the driver up Seat + Garelick Slider + Spider + mounted pedestal. I set the passenger up Seat + Spider + mounted pedestal. Now the seats are level.

My problem is the Spider. Garelick's have the right look. They mount on the outside of a plain tube. But the catalogs don't show any Garelick's for 2 3/8" tubes only 2 7/8" and above. Other manufacturers have spiders in 2 3/8" but I can't find drawings to see if they will work for the plain tubes. Springfield says theirs is for a "keyed pedestal". Another clearly shows a rectangular hole for the spider to lock into.

I really do not want to tear off the headliner and unbolt the flange and pedestal. Parts cost is not even a factor. Labor and time is. Does anybody know of a spider for a plain 2 3/8" tube?

It turns out that newer ABYC standards call for a positive swivel lock when the seat is in the foward position. This usually requires a lever operated locking pin in the spider that fits into a hole or channel in the pedestal tube. Springfield has both non-ABYC spiders and ABYC spiders. The ABYC models require a hole be drilled into the pedestal. I think my problem is solved.

If you do have to mess with those bolts under the headliner, be sure to install Rivnuts and you won't have to take down the headliner again. No, I don't have stock in the company, but Jeff does.
