Can any one magnify it and get the names or ports off the back of some of the boats?? There is a program to find boat owners and their addresess from the name if they are documented vessels.Sorrydog

Personally, I wouldn't want anything to do with a marina that big. You're just a number in a place that big! ANd getting any kind of radio or TV reception with all those masts sticking up....

Here's my idea of a great marina.

The problem with those marinas is its 10lbs of stuff in a 5lbs bag.

And by the time you get to your boat at the end of the pier you realize you left something in the car about 1/2 mile away.

Personably I prefer a larger marina there’s always a large variety of people to meet & learn from
the sharing of their sea story & that other Capt. have experienced. I’ve meet a lot of boating
people from all different parts of the USA & Canada a couple from Cape Canso, Nova Scotia,
who where on a 5 year trip aboard a trawler heading to FL. by way of the Loop & possibly than
on to the Bahama’s the one thing that stood out was the woman Capt barking orders at the first
mate (husband) she could sure handle that vessel. Not to say I didn’t run into a few scallywags
also but in my brief 30 some odd year of boating I’ve found that about 99% of the boating public
have a good stewardship & concern of the waters & other boaters property’s plus 99% are just
fun seeking people. Ran into a few BigM site Capt.’s missed one or two & that was in only a 53 slip
marina Just think of the wealth of knowledge that could be acquired in a port of that size. Besides
just think of the dock PARTY’S. Applause AnyWho that’s me & my choice of marina life to each his or
her preferences Whistle

Marina parties? You'd love the ones we have--especially after one of our memebers lost his inboard boat (the shaft broke and fell out the back, and the bilge pumps couldn't keep up).

Here's another view of our little place.

That moster marina reminds me of one I saw in Long Beach, CA on East Shoreline Drive. If I remember it right, there were over 1,800 slips in the marina - lot's of boat traffic! Not for me. The one I'm in is probably too big - 220 or so slips. Was a bit noisy last night with the folks next door on 'C' dock throwing a kegger with live music. Kept looking around for Doc...................

Gotta go with Doc on this one, prefer the larger Marinas 2-300 boats as long as it is on a traveled waterway with transient slips for all the traveling boaters coming back from the Bahamas and the keys. What GREAT stories they have and the places they have been!! Thats how I find a lot of the places I do to go visit!!Sorrydog

That Mega Marina has to have a thousand boats it's a maze you would have to plot a course to get in or out. Most boaters are great people, Mary Ann and I have made many frends in the boating communitte. But thairs always an odd ball and in the Mega Marina whats the odds on hitting an odd ball?

Norm,

I did see ya! Just didn't know it was you. We were going to spend the night Saturday, but decide to go to the house. Went back early Sunday morning to cook some breakfast and do some carpet replacement work, and there you wuz - still zoned out. Next time I'll be sure to add some decorations to you and get lots of pics to put on the internet!

Not sure I would want to be in a marina that big.
The one we(wife and I) have our 86 , 32' sedan brigde is not that big .
Although where my boat is moored is in between B and C row docks, Make it very tight getting out of there when the wind is puffing.

We recently joined THE PENNSUILA YACHT CLUB here on Lake Norman as a socail member. It's pretty big
the pump out and gas situation are great. and if I have two much stuff I can used the clubs golf carts to get around with....
But I would not want to be in a marina like the one in the picture....
