Hello All,
I wasn't happy with the out-dated 'engine alarm' circuits, so I installed new switches and built an "engine monitor sub-panel".
The aluminum project box houses 4 leds, 4 on/off switches, 4 piezo alarms, a 0-20vdc digital voltmeter, and a 5 position rotary switch.
The leds are for: LOW WATER PRESSURE, LOW OIL PRESSURE, HIGH ENGINE TEMP, and HIGH TRANSMISSION TEMP. The switches are in series with the alarms so you can kill the noise.
The voltmeter displays the status of both battery banks. There are 2 batts in the "THRUSTER BANK" and 2 batts in the "SHIP'S POWER" bank. The rotary switch selects: OFF, 1 - 2 1 - 2.
The water pressure alarm was Jeff's idea and will be on below 2000rpm. The oil alarm will be on when pressure <6psi.
The engine OT circuit has 3 switches in parallel. The one for the cooling will close @ 200* and the 2 on the exaust mainfolds (one P and one SB) will close @ 185*.
Now I don't have to open the engine compartment to check on the batteries or wonder if the critical engine alarms will work when they should.
Also added a digital "TransTemp" gauge in the instrument panel right next to the digital "EngineTemp" gauge that was added last year.
This engine monitor will give you a little peace of mind and I would be glad to share the "How To" details if you are interested.

Sorrydog, I agree. This redneck will have to put that project on the bottom of the list. If I had that high-tech monter on my  now, there would be lights flashing,buzzers going off. I'm just trying to fix one problen at a time. Every time I take her out there is something else. Redneck Wayne
