I've got a bunch of teak that's perfect for a Marinette's cockpit that I'd be willing to sell for less than half of the current retail price of teak :-) I bought a bunch (approx 4' x 4' x 5' pile) of it for a boat project many years ago, but ended up selling the boat before I used any of the teak.

I'd planned to use some of it for my cockpit floor when it needed replacing, but w/ my son headed for med school I can't afford to keep the boat any more.

Story I GOT was that the Strikers with DD's raise fish better than just about anything else. Don't know if its true or not. The charter captain who ran my boat 10 years swears by it. Always caught fish. Personally we've never been skunked yet but that's more chance than anything else. Lord knows it isn't skill! You won't find many of them in charters in the US now as they were foreign built and not eligible.

Well like all aluminum boats there is a discount when you buy and when you sell. I have had mine 2 1/2 years and some of the ones that were for sale when I was looking are still for sale. Of course the 41 Marinette that I looked at before I ever heard of a Striker is still out there for sale.

The only thing I have ever heard bad about these boats from someone who has run one is the paint. No surprise there. They are not the same as a Marinette though. They are designed to be all weather ocean boats. As such they are not as nimble as a Marinette. On the other hand a beam sea that will toss a marinette around is nothing to a Striker. All the owners I have talked to have stories about incredible seas and cruising right through them. The boats were very high end when new. Striker's moto was that they build small ships. Sometimes this is a problem because the local marina can't identify the hardware on the boat. You have to go to a commercial yard.

I would guess that this one could be had for $55K to $60K.

Thanks Fred, but I think we are going to upgrade to an aft cabin. Now I know where to get teak if I ever need it.
