If the boat is not physically damaged beyond reasonable repairs I'd fix it.
The electrical system is straight forward in my opinion. It comes in from the shore power plug and goes to panel and is distributed from there to the outlets/appliances etc. I'll bet the wiring is fine. The probs may be where the wiring terminates at any load devices such as hot water tank etc and also at the switch panel(s).
I would systemically go through each device to see if it powers on and functions correctly. Engage and disenage every switch and run every device for a period of time to make the sure the system can handle the load ok and that nothing else will smoke like the AC unit.
Keep the bottom well coated and the anodes clean and fresh each year to help prevent blistering on the bottom. If blistering continues there is a voltage leak within the boat such as DC equipment grounded to the hull.

Your insurance company is helping out, why not fix her up. Everything you change will be new, and the basic boat is undamaged.

Thats true JEFF.
Thanks for ya'll input, My wife is already deciding what kind of flooring she wants, curtains or blinds, interior things. she has been on the MARINETTE pages looking at other people boat I am trying to keep her from looking at the 41 MARINETTE , she really like that one. If I were to trade boats I would wanna stay with MARINETTE. but that 41 is sweet.

Are you going to do all the work yourself, or pay ( 60-70-80 dollars an hour) to have somebody else do it? Can you afford to put 3 times more money into it than you think it will cost? Are you or the insurance company paying for repairs? Are you going to keep it for awhile once it's fixed? These answers will decide for you.- Good luck, Ed

But yea I do plan to keep the boat even after she is fixed. as long as insurance is picking up the repair bill , yea I will have mechanic do the work...

After reading your passionate e-mail about your boat. I'd say SHE'S BEEN GOOD TO YOU!!! NOW ITS TIME FOR YOU TO BE GOOD TO HER!!!! If you bought another boat, you'd have to fix her up to meet your standards, and still wouldn't have the boat you WANTED! It's a labor of LOVE!! Sorrydog says fix HER! Sorrydog

WELL, I think the reapir is coming down to the end, My mechanic says he will finish the installations of new Heat/air unit this week and the other stuff on the list from the surveyer. So the plan is to put her back in the water next TUESDAY and back to my marina... My Mechanic is going to ride with me, just to ease my concerns. Except for the changes the wife is doing interior wise, the out side repairs will soon be finished, new rudders, props balanced and cleaned. new paint on the bottom.... I have the front cushions out right now for a mattress company here locally to make new mattress's comfort fit. and the settte and galley cushions are out, the wife wants those either remade or made new, with the plether /leather marine material. Then she wants to change the flooring from carpet to a hard surface . but once we get her back, everthing can happen in time.... I need to get back boatin...
