Been thinking on your question about your pitted hull. I would weld marine grade alum plates over the areas instead of cutting them all out. Its a lot easy and done all the time. The problem with cutting out is welding it from the inside and you now have walls and floors and also gussets and stiffeners to contend with. My next rip south I'll stop and take a lok for you. You can take a weld course or if you can find a alum welding mach, with a wire feeder. I come down for a day and teach you enough welding to get the job done. Biggest thing they teach you about welding Alum is Clean it and clean it and clean it again!! Use only a stainless steel wire wheel and a NEW ONE USED FOR ONLY ALUM!!!! If its used for any thing else you ll know it during welding. Especially if some one uses it on steel, then you pick it up. You then contaminate the weld with carbon. Biggest thing is to get someone to set machine for you. Sorrydog
