I'm going to update my old Guest 15A charger this spring with a ProMariner ProSport 20 Plus Gen 2 unless I find something else in the meantime.
I found a FAQ section on the website on corrosion. They make galvanic isolators etc and offer some insight on the different types of corrosion, bonding, monitoring and control.

The information is rather well written for the non-science individual. Should be easy to make sense of it.

I need to add a battery tender/charger to my 1969 '32 Express "Shady Lady" in the spring. Is there anything to know about these in regards to any stray electrical or bad side effects, adding to the attack on the hull? Any recommendations on models/manufacturers ....

This may not be responsive exactly but I have a two-bank 20a Charles brand charger that seems to be going strong after about 10 or 12 years. OF course, they now have better circuitry. There are far better electricians on the board but the wiring is quite straightforward - the unit is plugged into AC power on one side and pos/neg leads to the batteries on the other.

One wise thing someone posted here a long time ago: make sure that the AC connection is made outside the engine compartment. While the battery charger will be (should be!) ignition protected, the AC connection will not be.

Here’s a tip that came with my battery charger instruction manual on the choice of the proper size
battery cable. A excerpt out of manual gives a example the total cable length from the charger to
battery & back again. For example, a wire length of 10ft.means that the charger is 5ft. from the
battery.

Wire length Wire size Wire size
TC 20+ amp TC 40 + amp


Feet AWG AWG
10' # 10 # 8
15' # 8 # 6
20' # 6 # 6

plus all battery’s must be of the same type all should be either Flooded, Gel, or AGM type

Also for the Promariner and prob all other type of chargers if you buy a 3 bank charger and only have 2 batts you must connect that extra bank to 1 of the 2 batteries. All outputs on the charger must be going to a battery, even if that means doubling up multiple outputs on a battery.

My guess is the system looks for some type of voltage on all the charger banks. If 1 bank shows 0 volts it may fault the system thinking its a bad battery or connection.

Very easy to hook up a Charger, imo.

All charging leads from the charger run to the hot side of the red batt switches so the batts will always charge even when the boat switches are OFF.

The power for the charger runs up to the AC control panel into one of the spare breaker toggles.

The Promariner systems are pre wired which can be a pain if you need to extend the wiring.
This new unit will replace the old unit which is directly under the lower helm on the 32. Its isolated from the engine room so I will prob put a GFCI outlet down there for power. The hot for the outlet will run up to the helm to the existing toggle for the old charger.
