The problem here is parts assessibility. These are decidedly oddball engines to begin with--Buick alumnium V-8s from the early '60s--and obsolete engines as well. Try finding a new exhaust manifold for one of those! Going to more modern engines--even used engines--would move him in the direction of parts availability.

If you still haven't picked out an engine I'd suggest 4.3 liter Chevy V-6s. A bit heavier, but similar in rpm/ torque/ hp. Plenty of them out there, and parts are a breeze to find. Chevy V-6 or V-8 bellhousings to adapt to your B W trans are also common.

The 215 is actually 160 HP (my slipping memory).
The Chevy engine has been mentioned to me by others. I'm looking into it, any recommendation on sources?
I'd much rather enjoy my BigM than struggle through maintenance issues. New engines sound like sweet music to my ears, but it always comes down to $$$ and which cookie jar I should breakPray

For V-6s, start looking at salvage places and on the internet. (M & M Salvage). WHat you need is a complete, used engine package. It won't be cheap, but at least you'll have common motors and exhaust system parts that are obtainable.

Good luck!

The trick, Sorrydog, is to line up all the parts needed, not necessarily get ready to run engines. New long blocks would be the next purchase, as necessary.

ain't boating fun!

Would anyone have a link to a dimensioned drawing of the 4.3 L engine? 'm wondering just how it will fit in my 32' hull.
Thanks
