Looking for pros and cons for each. I would really like to get in a 41 but the 39 I'm looking at is in way better shape. 41 has the full cabin up and more room. 39 has 2.6 draft and probably a bit faster and better on fuel. Are the heads and shower smaller on the 39? All info appreciated!

I vote for the 39; shallower draft and better on gas (importnat nowadays).

I vote for the one that has the portals on the sides with oars sticking out Once I cut the holes in the sides all I’d need is the drummer Always sumtin. Go for the 41' U'll need the room for rowers Norm, Big s Live On

I think someone else asked this recently but the 41's are Marquis models. The 39's can be double cabins or the Marquis style. The Marquis models supersedes the older "double cabin".
The Marquis is a different hull style and from what I've gathered from talking w/ others is not as fuel efficient as the traditional hull. However, I doubt the difference between the 39 double cabin and 41 Marquis are all that much.
If at all possible I'd holdout for either a 41 or 39 Marquis. They were tweaked to provide more refinements & creature comforts.

Thanks for the usefull reply. The 41' is I believe a 88 Marquis and the 39' is a 86. Not sure if it's a Marquis. The 86 is in much better shape, less $$, under 50 hours on new motors, kept under cover etc.. The 41 has less than 500 on motors but needs a lot more work. I know the 39 VS 41 is a wide question but this should be the best place to ask. I've foud swimmers with flippers chained to the swim platform the most efficient use of human power. EZ to knock them in the head from the aft deck if they start to get out of line.
Thanks

better shape, less $$, under 50 hours on new motors, kept under cover etc.. in my little experince little projects cost lots of $$$$ .that extra 2' sounds like it will cost you alot. my marina charges me extra for the 2' my 32' hangs out of the 30' slip check dock fees where you are going to put it.

JB The 86 will be a double cable or a sedan (glass sliding doors). I believe the Marquis came out in 87 or 88. There are ways to tell. The double cabin/sedan models have higher forward cabin windows, the transoms are lower (less free board) and angled in and they go down on aft hull sides. The marquis will have skinny windows in the forward cabin, a higher transom and nearly straight drop to the water line on hull sides (to give more room in the aft cabin) and there should be a plastic name plate indicating "41' Marquis" on the side under the salon windows. Is the 41' located in Ohio by any chance? I know someone who is selling one here but it needs some TLC. The Marquis also have somewhat full size refer and freezer. More room for "boat pop" -Karl

Yep, the 86 is a double cabin. I know it's my decision but thanks for helping me think out loud. The 41' would be nice but at a high cost over the 39'. $$$ is a factor. I can buy a lot of " boat pop" with the savings.

The 86 39 double cabin is about a foot narrower in beam than the 37 and 41 models made 1987 and later. The 41 is more stable side to side and has more room inside. Both the 37 and 41 (after 1987) can be Marquis (no kitchen table) or Double cabin motor yacht (has kitchen table).

I have a 37 (Non Marquis) 1988. It is an aft cabin and had the exact same lines as a Marquis. I have a slip next to a double cabin 37. Mine has much more freeboard and smaller windows.
What exactly distinguishes a Marquis? I should be able to post pics in a few days.

Marniette only made 2 hull types; standard/traditional hull for the sedan/double cabin and the Marquis hull. This is a Marquis This is a double cabin. Notice the hull tapers down toward the aft on the double cabin. The Marquis hull remains nearly the same height. Also the forward cabin windows on the Marquis compared to the double cabin. From what I've seen only a few of the Marquis have the anchor pulpit "molded" into the hull. It is not bolted on like the majority of the other Marinettes. Looks very slick. The photo above is one of those. You can see the bow line coming all the way up under the pulpit. -Karl

Wow, I guess that mine is a Marquis then. I just did not see any literature on mine denoting the Marquis thing. The boat docked next to mine is a double cabin.
Just learning.

Thanks for the info. After spending time on both boats one right after the other it became clear how much better a layout the 41 has. Many other refinements. it is more $$ and needs paint a little sooner but it fits me much better. I won't have the "should have got the 41" feeling. Now I just have to talk someone into giving me some $$ for a 20 year old boat.
Thanks
