Well, I'd expect the owner to be lying, but that's just based on my experiences with East Coast boats ;)

Oh - and I'd also expect that the owner will want more than the boat's actually worth. But I digress...

Good luck, and Merry Christmas!

Bill Sutherland's family (Woodbridge Marine Salvage) are looking to sell their personal very nice 1991 or 1993 Aft cabin for great price.
Bill died this last year.
His daughter, Carol Sutherland is a boat hauler and knows, and fixes these.

I have seen and know this boat, you should get a good price.

Nope.... really. My part of Aquia Creek is freshwater where I dock (AHYC.ORG), and we have lots of Marinettes here. Goes straight to the Potomac. I have to use Mag guppies at the dock.

We have a 41 here that's in fairly good shape.

It's on the Potomac River, the Virginia side, south of Woodbridge and North of Colonial Beach/route 301.

We have a 39' aft cabin -- I think 1986 in Memphis, TN at the Yacht Club downtown. Got it for my son and he lived on it during law school. We don't use it often and would like to sell. If you are interested reply back. It is in great shape.

Agree with all that's been said about surveyors. And I priced my offer on the need to rebuild the engines.

John A told me he had a lot of the records so he may have the stats on what was built.

We looked at the Woodbridge boat several weeks ago..
If you take it get ready for some work.
I am no expert and claim never to be but from my past with 11 other boats and all the great help on this forum , that boat is nothing but Work and $$$$.
It has not been out of the water in years,it shows it !
You will find it tied poorly in a back yard creek next to the yacht club it once resided at.

Out of all the surveyers out there how many can do the right job on a Marinette?. We need a go-to list of Marinette qualified surveyers on this forum. Failing that, maybe we can assemble a Marinette survey checklist to help out the newbies that are looking to buy. To start with, our bearings are non-metallic, our props shafts are isolated and a lot of our 20 year old systems are subject to hack repairs. A Marinette that needs topside paint, engines or a bottom job needs a to have a great big discount. A boat that need all three of these fixes should sell at salvage prices. Sorrydog has a good system -- discount all boats for new engines and feel lucky if it doesn't need them. I don't mind project boats cause I am retired and don't even understand golf. But, now is the time to get fully restored boats at bargain prices.

The surveyor who did the pre-buy for my boat seemed to know Marinettes: David Monak from Huron, Ohio (419-433-8083).
