I looked at this boat last week..It has not been out of the water in some time. Needs paint, several minor repairs, and hatches are very soft. The boat is winterized so the owner could not start her up. She is not bad but alot of time needed and haul . Owner has 2 boats and is in a hurry to sell this one..?

Hi - I'm the owner of the 39 you're talking about. Question for you on the hatches. You say "soft". Can you explain what you mean? The only hatch is on the foredeck and it's tight as a drum. Also, you mention needing paint. I hope you mean bottom paint (by the way I have a full set of new zincs ready for the new owner) since the entire boat was painted from the waterline to the flybridge in 2002. She still shines like new. Except for some touch up needed around stancions - painter did not prep them properly, and I even have the paint - the finish is very, very good.
If anyone has questions on her or would like to see her please let me know. The boat will be dewinterized this weekend, has a FULL tank of stablized gas, and has been reduced to $35,000.
Happy Boating Season!
Steve

I too am curious about the hatches being soft. Perhaps Gypsy has mistaken for a non-aft cabin boat? 1986, 32' Sedan, twin 360ci, 275hp Chrysler's w/ K&N flame arrestors

It occurred to me earlier today that perhaps Gypsy is referring to the salon sole as hatches – engine hatches. If that’s the case all I can note is that the design of the sole may tend to make it seem “soft”. All the sole consists of is three pieces of hinged plywood with very little support. The wood is indeed fine but you do have about a 3 – 4 foot run of unsupported sole. I’ve been aboard several 39s over the years and they’ve all felt that same underfoot. Heck makes it feel like a boat!
Anyway, I hope this addresses Gypsy’s question if indeed it was my boat he was aboard.

70 degrees today – time for a boat ride!
