Brent,

Unfortunately, I may be faced with what you just did. I cannot tell, but looking at your pictures, I assume yours is a '32? The area between you rear hatch, and your engine hatches looks similar, but not exactly the same. I am curious the exact method you went through to get the tank out. I have mine completely disconnected. Currently there is 5 gallons of laquer thinner in it to try and dissolve the 3 or so inches of tarish sludge in the bottom. We'll see what the innards look like when I get back down there saturday. Do you know anywhere I could get a repeat deal ($150) on a tank. Do you still have yours? Was it pulled just to prevent future problems????

I am hoping I do not have to pull the tank. If I do, it is pretty much definate that there will be NO '09 boating season for me... I have tried so damn hard to make one too...

mine is a 72 i get rust out of the strainers alot but no leaks should i be worried??

shane ,it would have been alot easier to change the tank when the engines were out.mine looks like it has to come out the engine hatches.(without cutting anything)

I know it would have been easier... woulda shoulda coulda.... Didn't think it would be this bad....

Tim,
The insided of the tank looks rust free, just sludgey. Yours and mine are the same, it looks like I would have to cut the brace below the front port corner of the rear hatch, and then pull the inboard exh. manifolds, and I should be able to get it out. Our center deck peice (above the fuel gauge), is much narrower than what Brent is showing, and I am not sure if that meant the port side of the deck would also have to come out or be cut...

On my 70 express it came out the engine hatches without cutting anything. Had it coated like motorcicle tanks six years ago with no problems
