There are a couple of reasons.
0) you might be able to clear the cookie with this page ...
Use this one ... Wrote a quick fix page that is a bodge to correct the .YAFNET_Authentication cookie only for my site.
http://www.marinetteboat.com/forum/zapcooky.aspx 1) You are using the overly helpful internet explorer (6 especially) and it's providing the old password.
- Clear the browser cache then
- get a new password from the site (or contact me)
- Clear the browser cache again
- close all browser windows
- login
- change the password to something you remember (and write it down)
- Clear the browser cache again
- close all browser windows
- login with the password you just changed to
so far this has always worked
(or use Firefox)
2) You have a virus
- get and run an antivirus program (sheesh)
3) You need to do #1 again because you did not clear the cache or are doing things out of order.
- If you are saving the password, and you change it, Internet Explorer does not clear the old one correctly.
- You changed the password and did not wait for the email.
4) You forgot your user name or password spelling
- Capitalization and spacing must match
(CAPTJOE is not CaptJoe is not CAPT JOE and is not Captjoe)
- The caps lock key is down.
I am trying to write a marinetteboat.com delete cookie (expires) function that willfix this when it happens. basically, the browser has a corrupted .YAFNET_Authentication cookie that needs to be deleted. This is in the marinetteboat.com site.
This is much easier in firefox to find and delete the one cookie.
