Here’s a couple of pix of my winter project near finished took it to boat a few wk ago to make sure it fit. I copied the design off another BigM boater that stopped by the marina for fuel on his way to his home port I believe his name is Garland not sure if he’s a member of this site he maybe but under a different handle if so thanks for the idea. I still have the extra storage space covers to install but that can be done on a foul weather day didn’t want to buy a S S piano hinge lots of $$$. The slide out board seen in pix are foot rest. The bottom opening will make for storage space that is dearly needed on our BigMs The Missus just loves it now see can see out the windows & see where we R going instead of looking out the stern door & seeing where we’ve been. She sort of has the same opinion as Jeff, on F/B especially if it’s a little choppy )-;
The two drawbacks it’ll make a harder to open the hatch area over the strb eng. & as my bilge monkey said he wants to be there with a camera when I’m taking one of my midday siesta’s & take the near 2' drop to the Saloon’s sole Not talking maybe Jeff can engineer me some sort of seat belt Pray

Nice work. Still got some wood from the old setee laying around. Clever design, but WAY too cumbersome to move when I want to work on Mr, Starboard.

Jeff,

That is a draw back, even though it’s a two parter to make it somewhat easier to move around the once or twice a season that my bilge monkey has to get down there he even agreed we gotta keep the ole girl happy Angel Now watch this season that eng. will be my PITA Brick wall
She came up with a good idea but a little to late about putting a trundle bed in that space but I had already cut out & veneered the riser by the she came up with her idea. Whistle

Fred,

Thanks for the kudos, But nowhere’s near what the cabinet the your Dad built for U now there’s
a craftsman Applause
I been trying to talk the wife into sanding the original settee but that doesn’t look like it’s going to
happen, Not talking maybe next season I’ll bring it home & veneer the upper half to match the lower part
hope there’s enough edging on the drawer front to square off cause it a bit testy trying to do
the radiuses with veneer or I may just build new fronts for them.

Norm,

I still have almost all of the teak. I did use a little bit of it to make full height handles on some laundry room cabinets I built a while ago. The handles made a nice accent to the white melamine I used for the cabinets.

I wouldn't try to veneer of the cove of the drawer fronts although it can be done w/ a vacuum bag. My dad did it on a fireplace mantle he built for me a number of years ago. Personally, I'd just veneer the flat surface after sanding the edge profile to clean it up. Much easier and I think the contrast between the different woods would look quite nice.

BTW - how in the heck do you embed a photo in a message - I can't figure out how to do it for the life of me.

First off post your message than on the upper right side U’ll see the boxes attach, delete, edit etc.
click on the attach box it’ll bring up another screen than click on browse it’ll take U to where U
have Photo’s stored than click on the pic U want to post than click on open than click on upload
next hit back & if your file isn’t to large the pix will appear on the post good luck it took me a
while to figure it out also.

Just adding to Norm's note: Make sure you shrink t he picture down before you post it, otherwise it will run way off the page and be hard to view. There are various posts on the board on how to do that. The one I like best is Shrinkpic (I think it's available from onthegosoft.com). In brief, keep your picture size down to no more than 800 pixels wide by 600 pixels high. Or between 72-96 dpi.

(you just made me break my rule about hijacking a thread)

Joel, What is meant by highjacking a thread. Norm,
Glad you asked. It is one of my pet peeves about some online forums. Ours is (sorta) pretty good now. Hijacking (I love this new internet speak) is where someone abruptly changes the subject. Throws us off topic. It is quite understandable and happens kinda naturally, following the way we speak at a friendly bull session. One minute we are talking props and the next about the size of the mermaid's flippers.

For example, one posts a comment or question on, say, what gauge electrical wiring to use when hooking up a whatever. After a few posts, someone says I used a certain wire for my fridge. The next guy writes asking how to repair the fridge. Then someone else says they do it with fishing line...then we are into how to catch a fish...and we soon are a long way from wire gauge. Kinda like the old game of "telephone".

This thread started out talking about cabinetry, then danced into posting pix, then hijacking. The problem hijacking creates is when you come along trying to find info and it is scattered all over hell's half acre. For this band of faithful followers - we have a great party line dialog going here - lots of fun - but for onlookers, they can get thrown off course pretty easily when they are looking for help.

On the other hand.... there's nothing "wrong" with table talk. That is what Marinette friends are for!
