I record old records and tapes and play them on CDs. Been doing this successfully for years, but I have an MP3 player in my car (and on the boat). Problem: The wife's car has only a standard CD player, so it won't play .mp3s or Windows .wma files.

Question: What format can I use to record record and tapes that will play on her ordinary CD player?

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

The CD Audio files are "CDA" and you can probably Google for a free file converter from mp3.

Jeff,
You may want to look at a shareware product called MediaMonkey and Dual-Burner for MP3 Players 6.5.
The first product helps manage collections in numerous formats, and the second product burns CDs in various formats.

It is very quick to load tunes onto USB memory sticks, and they are getting pretty cheap. You can get a plug for the cigarette lighter socket that accepts a memory stick, and works like an iPod, playing through the radio with a tiny transmitter. Much more compact than CDs, and you can rewrite them any time.

I drive a number of vehicles, none of which belong to me, so I find this very convenient. I just carry the gadget in my pocket, along with a memory stick. And in my car, I have torn out the 10-CD changer, which was always a source of trouble, and now use the gadget.

A typical one is http://www.cyberguys.com...tail.asp?productID=23978
