How hard was it to line those holes back up and re-tie the buttons? Any trick to it?
Sorry it took so long to answer this post must have got by me

Not hard at all there’s a nylon looped string that holds the two buttons together pull one side of the button out far enough to get to the little catch on the back side of the button then with a thin object (I used a thin 6" scale) push the latch in slip loop off catch “do not cut loops” pull the other button & string loop out Walla !!!

On replacing the button I used a metal piece of clothes hanger about a foot long put a tiny hook at one end than push the hooked part thru existing hole one side of material , thru foam thru existing in material on the opposite place the looped button & string pull on the looped hanger till string appears on the other side hook the loop over the other button catch Walla on to the next hole. One other ditty mark the foam the way U remove it makes for a little easier hole alignment AnyWho that’s how I did it
