Has anyone seen/had experience/heard anything about this product: http://www.airheadtoilet.com/

Seems interesting but a little $$$--although maybe not if compared to a Lectra San or Purisan unit. In my case I'd have to buy the head, drill holes in the hull and install sea cocks too. I have a holding tank but pump-out facilities are rare on our part of the Ohio.

I also wonder about odors from the vent. Might not make me such a popular guy around the dock. . . or I could dock on the port side .

There is a similar sort of head that actually reduces the 'contents' to dry powder, and is similarly vented. They are very expensive also, and need a generator, but are very high quality. Used all over florida in commercial applications, crewboats, etc. Don't stand downwind of the vent.

Both use paper liners to eliminate the flush water. Not a bad idea, but would take some getting used to.

The other one that reduces waste to a dry powder is a Incinolet, It burns the waste. (I bet that smells good). I have seen them on smal and medium tows on the river.

they throw in a free "pusher stick" to help force the solid deposits and paper liner into the tank when gravity fails.

I looked hard at the Incinolet when I bought my M, but decided to make her legal by adding a holding tank to the existing head. Cost $350 or so instead of $2000.

The biggest reason not to use it was the need for a generator. A "flush" cycle is 10-15 minutes, and the battery draw through an inverter would be 150 amps or more.

A less important reason was the inconvenience of having to use the paper liner. But I wouldn't mind and the girls would get used to it.

The vent would be a problem, because the head is upwind of the cockpit.
