I called a broker that I've worked with in the past and asked him what a realistic selling prices is for my 1988 32. The boat has many upgrades, including an $11K Imron paint job, some new electronics, new curtains, carpeting, ss davits and more.

The guy is very familiar with Marinettes because he used to sell them in the area.

I was quite dismayed when he came back with a recommendation of 29900 as a realistic starting price.

I'm curious what others think.

Thanks

Fred

Marinettes have been undervalued for years. When the economy was booming 29,900 would have been a fair price.

Today's market our boats are worth even less!

1. Banks are not loaning on old boats. (That leaves cash buyers only)

2. Boat market is very soft after last years record fuel prices

I had a broker tell me he MIGHT get 15K for my 29 and it is in nice shape but probably not as nice as yours.

New boat sales are down over 30 percent and the used boat market is flooded!

If this economy continues I will probably have to just put mine on the hard and walk.

Marinas are raising slip fees due to loss of revenue from fuel, equipment and repair sales.

Guess it's nice to be in a small marina. Our marina, www.talltimbersmarina.com, has 30 slips + 7 transient, & a waiting list for slips. Prices are the same for this year, we'll see if all come back or we get some new faces.

I expected a hit because of the current economy, but...... ouch! When I bought the boat in 2004, prices for 32's where running between 35K and 47K for 1987 to 1989 boats. Boy did I pick a bad time to switch from sail to power, both in cost of operation and value of the boat!

Every year I get an estimate of the value of my boat, a 1975 32' flybridge converted to diesels, for various legal reasons.

The latest guestimate shows the value up slightly thanks to the diesel propulsion - apparently the price of gas has increased interest in diesels.

Still, there is no question of selling at a profit, just a reduction in loss.

I have always been stunned at what a great value a Marinette is. I paid far less for my two than what was being asked for really crappy fiberglass boats.

i've reduced mine to 27,900 and probaly go cheaper than that but i dont want 2 boats in the water ,has any one had any dealings with donating to a charity, i've even considered that might be one way to recoupe the value. on the upside if your buying a larger boat the deals are out there and you can absorb some of your losses by the good deal you get on one now compared to 2-3 years ago.worst case i've even considered taking my 32 apart bringing it home put it behind the barn and shrinkwrapping it!!!!!!!!!!!!

these marinettes are built heavy duty compared to other boats and if they havent been abused to bad or treated like a junk party barge they still have decades left in them,i'm hoping my 41 last 15 to 20 more years with just pure lovin and normal maint,if it will do that i might just give it a proper buriel and SINK it!!!!!
