i just got a 10' plastic boat that i want to use with a 3.5 hp outboard . i have seen jeffs mount and would love to do something like that.but at sometime i would like to add a kicker.i've looked a dennis norm and bobs and was wondering if anybody had tried a set up like dennis has with a dingy mount like jeff's on the extended part of the platform behind the kicker.

i know that most of you prefer a plaining dingy, but at 200 this "starter set"was a few grand cheaper.we will use it to fish and let the kids use it .

Much nicer than my "starter" dingy (as you can see). You can buy davits that attach the the boat and the swim platform. The boat then is winched up sideways via a simple rope winch deal.

look on ebay for deals. i got the davits that attach to the swim deck for $40 bucks. i mounted them onto 3/4" marine plywood pieces, countersunk the bolt heads, installed 4 bolts that slip in between my swim deck slots so i can attach or remove when i want to and not have holes or davits on the swim deck all the time.

dean i,ve been looking. let a set go last week when they got to 70.$ only ones on there now are transom mount .i think i'm going to use weaver inflatible snaps on the swim platform and make the hooks for the boat side .i may have to split the boat and put a backing plate inside the boat for support.great idea using the plywood .

i'm having trouble finding marine grade treated plywood in my area.need to get some for the below deck areas and the new cockpit deck.

If you come across a good deal on the inflatable set (Weaver), let me know. I'd be willing to split it with you, as I need the parts that mount on the inflatable, and not the latches for the swim platform.

Thanks.

i've been looking at all kicker mounts and have noticed that most of your swim platforms are welded on .mine is heavly built like yours(bob ,jeff, norm and dennis)but is bolted on .i am planning(may not work)to add a kicker to the side like dennis and extend alittle more so the dingy is behind the kicker .i think at some time i will need to add the long supports coming from the end of the platform back to the the boat low like you have.

john ,still looking for mounts they will turn up eventually .if they have the pads and loops i'll get with you .

I added a couple of diagonal supports to take the added weight of the dingy and motor. (See photo.) Though my swim platform is the "normal" design, it was a bit springy with the weight back there.
