Hey guys in the Boaters World it’s must be officially Spring just received the 2009 West Marine catalog Hurrah!!! Applause but a bit of advice it’s about only about half the size from 1304 to720 pages they eliminated all the West Adviser articles plus no 20% off coupons like in previous years Bo Hoo. Boo hoo! U might wanna hang on to the 2008 one for some of their good references they had in it Anxious Take a seat before U look at the price of TriLux 33 $280 plus taxes & shipping will put it well over $300 gal. I know it can be had at cheaper prices at other place on the web but I’m sure there will be a huge price increase over last years prices there too,Brick wall glad I only need touch up this season.Applause

Norm,

You'll have bad times, but they'll just wake you up to the good times you weren't paying attention to

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way.I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

WHolesale Marine.com -- $184, free shipping. Qts are around $50+. I need to order some..thnx for the reminder
UPDATE: I got 2 qts and because I had done business with them had accumulated "points" worth nearly $8 which was deducted from the bill. Not shabby.

TA DA........!!!!!!! Finished bottom painting today! Earliest in my boating history as blue skies reigned and temps hovered around 70. Wowweeee. I will be able to launch after spring cleaning in the cabin.

By the way, I visited West Marine today and the manager says "no" to the going under report. They have just opened a new "big box" store someplace and she says her store is not suffering seriously (yet). I don't think they would have mailed their annual catlog this year if they were headed swiftly downhill, even though the catalog is thinner.

That's goo to hear, Joel: I consider them a valuable asset.

Haven't even thought about buying the Trilux for mine yet--guess I'm a bit behind!

You may be confused. I think what you heard concerns Boaters World whose parent company, Ritz Camera has filed for bankruptcy protection and apparently intends to ditch the Boating division through a liquidation sale.

Ritz bought up the BW chain at a time when boating was a really popular and less expensive sport. Today, with high fuel prices and a job/market slump, boating is a luxury so retailers are getting hurt. For more info, check the business section of today's Washington Post (Ritz is a locally based concern).

If the sale is anything like the Circuit City sale DON'T BUY NO MORE STUFF YET!

Pack up the camper and locate the best stocked Boaters World you can, then wait for the sale.
Accept the fact that Jeff will already be there waiting when you arrive.

Boaters World: I don't think their liquidation sale has kicked in, yet. Also, having watched a number of them over the years, they start out with unimportant "discounts" to bring in the rubes. The good deals come later but the inventory is much thinner. Keep your eyes peeled and be patient.
