After you register, you do not automatically get posting access (to keep out spammers). An admin or Mod will grant you access after some period of time (1 week at mosty). Currently I and JrAlbert have admin and fastjeff has moderator access.

Thanks

Please Register : To weed out spammers, new members may not post until approved. An email is usually sent after approval. This forum is for Marinette Owners and other aluminum boat boaters who wish to share boating information. Aluminum Roamer owners are also welcome. (Do not post content you do not have the right to post and mass (robots) posters are unwelcome. We also have a marine electronics page and lots of Chrysler Engine info. State by what permission you copy content and give credit properly.) The site is now fixed with some more Chrysler information. We have space for pictures on the new location. Considering making a requirement to upload a picture of boat, boat info and port a condition of registration. There are only so many marinettes and spammers don't generally own marinettes. Thoughts from admins?

Joe H.

That sounds like a good idea to keep spammers out, but say if I were being a new Marinette
member I wouldn’t be able to register do to the fact I can’t get any of my Pix to down size to the proper size ? Brick wall I’ve tried several different methods & still no go to upload Pix. I believe quite a few others are having the same problem. Anxious So this may eliminate some legit new members. AnyWho my ½ penny’s worth Boo hoo!

Joe: Don't think posted pic means much because there are some ex-owners such as Norm who might be site contributors. But the other stuff as a requirement is ok. However, habing vetted hundreds of would-be's a home port is very easy to fake. Some were so nutty as to put down Moldavia as their home port..or Egypt. They were promptly bounced, of course. I favor using a real name but I noted recently that one member was very much against that. I'm already so public at this point, I don't know why showing my name is harmful to me...and as you know, I sign every post.

Norm: my offer to shrink your pix still stands as does the offer to send you a copy of the softwae I use to do that

Since you guys do most of the approvals how would you like it to work

I can add a page that stores marinette data for the applicant. Create an email that goes to the applicant that has questions regarding their boat (or boating interest) with a pic to attach etc. Let's make a plan and get consensus as to what's best.

Now that I understand what a "captcha"is, will that block robots???

Also..would love to have an email automatically generated that tells user they have been successfully registered and able to post...welcome board...some site rules. I was doing that manually for each user I added til that got tiresome

New Rule

New registrants must enter location and boat info (or why they are interested in marinettes or similar boats) in their profile.

It replaces Occupation
