I am headed down to the "Empty Pockets" on Saturday to remove the fridge and install a new shore power only fridge. I was wondering if anyone knows what is under the icebox on a 28 sportfish. The old one is screwed in around the frame and the compressor is under the v-berth. Is there a platform under the old one? If I have to cobble one together should i use treated lumber or regular old pine. Thanks for any advice.

Save some bucks. Instead of a refrigerator that won't work away from shore, get one of those portable powered cooler chests that have both A/C and DC input.

There's a platform down there all right--thought I had a photo but...

We bought one of those mini-fridges and put it in that space. Runs off AC only, so we run it on the inverter while on the hook.

Thanks Jeff. I would appreciate it if you could tell me how big the inverter is?

I have a bigger than necessary 2KW unit running off up to 4 batteries. You can run most things (AC not included) off a 1KW unit and two or three batteries.
