Since new dual voltage fridges cost a fortune (and I'm a cheapskate) we went with a mini-fridge--well under $200. Works just fine, but we need to run it off the inverter while on the hook. Fits the space well.

The previous owner of my 83M32 put in a ratty-looking "dorm room" frig.
Upon further checking, my boat was never wired for DC to the frig. Of course, that's easy enough to do, but I considered that the boating I do does not require one. In the Lake Erie islands, power is almost always available.

After much checking, I found a perfect fit fit and very good looking solution for $300 -- a GE Spacesaver in black wrinkle finish. It has 6.0 cu ft, and it looks like it belongs. Weight was about 70 lbs.

I considered a high-end one like Sub Zero and U-Line, but the weight was double -- around 150 lbs, which defeats the weight advantage of our Marinettes.

Hell 31 degrees yesterday AM and again today! Who needs a fridge. :-)

While sailing on the Lake Frieghters I would climb down into the fore peak and place my PBR along the frames, below the waterline. Can't say it was ice cold but it was workable as long as we stayed north of Port Huron and out of them dam warm rivers.

FYI: I came to appreciate the warm water characteristics of Pabst in those 9 years.
