You should definitely replace the breakers. If it is like my '75 32', then you have toggle breakers that work thermally. This is OK for wire protection, since it takes a lot of current to actually heat up and burn your wires, but they give poor load protection, since they will allow double the rated current or even more without opening immediately.
I replaced mine with Airpax AP/MIL breakers, about the best I know of. I put a great many of them into aircraft of all types, including the Shuttle, and they are the best I know of. The $140 each for the civilian version might be a problem, though. I got mine surplus at Skycraft in Orlando for around $7 each.
The Airpax Snapak line is pretty good and has been used by other forumistas, but it has a plastic toggle that just looks wrong to me.
I would recommend Airpax IALN-1-1-52-20.0
These are sealed toggle (fits Marinette) single-pole DC long delay 20 Amperes nominal open. You can use short delay if you wish, "51" instead of "52".
For the AC panel, I recommend Airpax IALN-1-1-62-20.0
These are not easy to find. They show up on ebay every now and then, and many commercial electronics sources can get them. If I remember correctly, they can be had for around $15. I always get stuff surplus.
