Occured to me today, as the plane touched down... I am in the motherland...

In Louisville on business this week. Whoda thunk it?? Just my interesting thought for today..

WOW, I was in Louisville today also.;) (And tomorrow(hopefullY)) It figures that a boat built for traveling (Twin cats) is the one that stay's here in town.Think

I was in Louisville a couple years ago. I was looking for a 37' FB Sedan. There wasent much said about Aluminum Cruisers Inc. It was as if they never existed. I went on line to find any history about Marinette in Lousisville, but not much was found. You would have thought a company that made such a great yacht would have left some foot prints?

While training at Lynchburg VA this past March I met a guy that works for UPS which now occupies the space on the airstrip where Marinette was. He was aware of the boat company and noted they used to make houseboats.

I suspect allot of boat companies come and go and Marinette was just another one that came and went. Albeit the rep for Marinette has lasted and will last much longer than any plastic manufacturer. We are kind of like the Aluminum Lyman of past legend and lore.

Don't bury Marinette yet!

John Althouse up here in the Great North is keeping Marinette on life support in Marquette, Michigan. In this economy it is all we can hope for.

They used to be right next to International Harvester at the airport. Why someone would have a boat pant at the airport is beyond me... But there they were. One of my buddies used to work there. Probably built a lot of the boats on this site.

Marinette boats went over very well, but then become cost prohibative to produce. We still have an aluminum boat maker here in town. Pluakebomb custome yachts. (sp) They build mostly houseboats but every now and then Dennis will throw something new out. One of their cruisers looks a Lot like a 32 Marinette.

I believe Marinette built aluminum aircraft before they built boats which explains the airport location. And Pluckebaum and Marinette had some sort of business relationship

Marinette was in the aviation repair business. The boat business was born as a result of the need for income during the winter months.
