I had used a degreaser to try to clean a little engine oil leak that ran into the bilge and now it seems it may have attacked whatever they applied to the bottom of the bilge. Has anyone developed/stumbled into a better way than removing all that gunk that just trying to pry/scrape it out with a putty knife? The degreaser is not strong enough to break it down so it is all a mess. thanks Sittin Duck

I used some orange colored "citrus" cleaner concentrate, sprayed it on raw with a pump sprayer, left it sit over night, power washed the hell out of it, sprayed it on again. Repeat process as often as necessary. It did remove some paint, but the paint might have been loose already under the 40 years of grease, oil, and gas.
