I cannot recall where I found the diagram to tie off the bow and fore & aft cleats to keep away from the side dock(two hole slip) with no fenders. Any help finding same greatly appreciated....

What kind of water? What kind of dock? Here we have to deal with tides, so unless it's a floating dock you're bound to bounce now and then. I agree with Doug's question, I don't know what you mean by "2 hole".

If the water isn't too active, just crossing the lines in conventional fashion should do the trick, meaning the lines tied to the dock to the starboard side go to your port side cleats and vice versa. The rubber snubbers you get from the marine store help by working as shock absorbers on the lines. The only solid insurance is to add spring lines...

I think the gentleman means a docking arrangement with no pilings between two boats. He must tie up on the right side or left side. Let's see: how about 5 lines. 1) spring line from a fwd piling to an aft cleat. That would be the first line to put on when docking because it will act as a brake and not let you crash the stern into the dock. 2) spring line from aft piling to fwd cleat. Keeps you in the slip. 3) bow line from a fwd piling to the bit on the bow. 4 & 5) crossed lines from stern pilings to stern cleats. If the boats are close together, he might drop a fender to ward off the other guy's hinky tieup.

As I remember, the diagram depicted a slip wide enough for two boats and claimed to keep your boat off both the dock you were tied to and also your neighbors boat. I couldn't make sense of it even with the diagram - might have been an April 1st thing. If I find it again, I'll holler....
