First I would replace the brushes on that alternator. They're arcing and sparking and making the noise. And will need to be replaced soon anyway. Then the capitor (condensor) from the output to the case of the alternator may be all you need.
Unless you have a bad diode in the output, then you will always have some A.C. in the D.C. output , The brushes will make alot more noise though.---Ed
