Have looked at variety of posts relating to starter switches and will try my luck with the fuse holder idea. The upper station switch for stbd side engine on my 37' will turn engine, but it won't fire. If I go down to lower station, stbd engine starts right up. Sometimes upper station switch will start engine after I let go of the switch and it returns to run position.

Assuming I need a new switch, where do I find one? Or are they common at boatfix, defender, iboats, etc?

I was slogging through the internet looking for a source for Marinette starter switches. I found this website.

http://cmsquick.com/contact.html

I called and talked to Dan at 800-992-7922. He was faimiliar with the Marinette switches and confident they could supply a replacement switch. He also said that the old chisel type toggles were getting "rare" but they had better ones that are more waterproof and reliable.

I going to check the inside console to make sure the same switch is used as on the flybridge. The flybridge switch is off-on-momentary on. It has four terminals but has 5 wires connected. I want to be able to swap a bad switch out with as little confusion as possible so I need to find or make a wiring diagram.

There are definitely better switches out there, especially the push button deals with a rubber cover over the push button.

On my 32 I pitched the crappy toggle switches and fuse holders and replaced them with circuit breakers and regular ignition switches with keys. End of problem.
When I die I hope my wife sells my stuff for more than I told her I paid for it.

Separate fuse holders are for the birds. Switches should have the breaker built in. It means less wiring, and gives an immediate trip indication because (usually) the toggle goes down. An exception would be an ignition off-on-start switch, because breaker/switches don't normally give 3 positions. Industrial waterproof switches run $15-20 and will never fail with our usage. All that said, I use a keyswitch at the lower station, that can lock out the upper station start-stop switches if needed. I can let the kids up there without worrying that they will start an engine.

Checked over the weekend-no fuses at upper station starter switches that I can find. Switch has 4 blade terminals with 5 wires coming [or going] from switch. Two wires are on one terminal. Others are each on their own terminal. If I was to switch to a key or othet type off-on-momentary on switch, is there a wiring diagram for dual station Marinette's that shows what wire goes where? If I can find new toggles with the 4 terminals, I can just do Monkey See-Monkey Do with the wires.

Once you decide what switch to use, I will gin up a wiring diagram for you, and we can let Fast(Mr. Engine)Jeff check it.

Jeff,

Well, starting circuits are pretty simple. The trick is to understand the color code used in the harness for the engine, so as to hook the right stuff up to the right stuff. Unfortunately, I have a Perkins harness and I doubt that the colors are the same. I strongly suspect that you know all sorts of stuff about engine harnesses.....
