Doing a detailed inspection after my launching 85 FB sedan. I noticed the full fuel tanks sender are seeping fuel around seal!!!

Just enough to make it damp around the sender.

I gave the screws a 1/8 turn each. with no improvement.

The sender is no longer damp now that I ran some of the fuel out.

I think the cork gaskets are getting old.

Can you pull the sender out with the floor in???

Any suggestions?

Yes, they come out with the floor in place. Be sure to mark the orientation of the senders BEFORE they come out or you'll go wacky trying to get them back in. A nice, thick gasket (viton) about 1/8 inch thick should eliminate that problem. Be prepared to curse a blue streak when you work on the port tank. I saber sawed a hole thought the cockpit floor to get to mine, then covered the hole with an aluminum plate.

Jeff

PS: The bolts were loose on mine a few years ago when I filled her all the way up for winter storage and tripped the fuel vapor alarm. Minor tightening cured that problem.
