In another post, Jeff mentioned an air leak in the fuel line valves that messed up the Flow meter reading. How was that air leak corrected?

i think he just moved them close to the tank before the valves and water separators.

Right. Hard to believe that air is sucked in through those shut off valves, but it is. Drove me nuts 'til I relocated the flowmeter before all of the valves.

Actually, that's where mine is placed, Joel. I had to eliminate the fuel shut off valve before it (in the manifold). I can't switch tanks now, which I wouldn't do anyhow. In the below photo, the flow is from the separator/ strainer, through the flow meter, and then to the fuel pump. It's the only place where I could get it to work properly. Jeff

I will re-check the connections. Interestingly, one unit works now and it's on the side with multiple extra connections to feed the generator. It's the simple "straight through" side that is messed up. I'm on my third set of flow transponders (if that's the correct name) with the patient help of the mfr (Navman). My backup strategy will be to assume both engines are running at the same approx fuel consumption rate and multiple by 2. I can verify that at the fuel dock. But that, of course, isn't why I invested in a 2 unit system.

I was too cheap to buy two flowmeters, so I use the 'gallons at fill up plus throttle handles together' trick.

Jeff how did you figure out the air leaking into the system? I have two flow meters and the port side is wacky. The manufacturer recommends the sender point up to the carb. Maybe I need to relocate the shut offs or replace? rv

Baffling, ain't it, but the fuel pump sucked enough air in through the shut off valve near the pump to drive the flowmeter nuts. This same valve never leaked a drop of gas, by the way. Had to put the flowmeter before ALL of the shut off valves to rid the system of air. Has worked perfectly since.

Thanks Jeff I wound up replacing the shut off valve $7.00 and replaced the fuel line. I wasn't able to relocate the sensor it needed to be in this spot according to instructions. Now I'm sure it works , haven't refueled yet,but the sensors appear to be using the same amount of fuel. I still don't know how you figured this one out! Thanks Bob V.
