Currently boating out of Craigs Creek on the Ohio at mile 530. I have traveled the river from lake Michigan to just up stream of Cincinnati. I have equal desire to run the river on up to Pittsburg and to travel the bottom half of the trip from St. louis to the gulf. My current boat is a 466 Bertram FDMY and I think the world of her. Lately I have actually been using the boat more and it's 56 to 58 inch draft and it's walk on deck height is sometimes an issue when traveling or wanting to beach or raft out with others, so I have been thinking Marinette on 2 different fronts. 1st. and likely the easiest to occur is I am kind of shopping for a 28 single or possibly twin in a non bridge express to re-do this winter in the shop at home. I want it as a once in a while fun boat with some level of over powering just for kicks. I can invision it bone stock appearing until the engine room hatch comes open. Would be nice for economy and puting miles on at a great reduction in fuel comsumption and that occasional trailering to somewhere different. I live 1 mile from the ramp in Madsion In. so I could trailer it back and forth like a over grown runabout. I could actually drive my boat to the boat 30 miles up river instead of the car, just sounds like fun and they can be found at great prices these days so dollars are not the issue here. I am no stranger to big projects so that is a non issue.
On another front I would like, as I mentioned a shallower draft boat for use as my every weekend home away from home that the Bert is serving as now and I might be willing to back up on size and room if the right thing came along. In order to give up my beloved Bert. my top 3 or 4 would likely be a
#1:...41 sedan bridge sport fish marinette, I do know how rare they are, they are just good looking Marinettes.
#2:...41 Chris Craft 41 aluminum Roamer, old classic but I grew up with these boats......
#3:...39 or 37 Marinette sedan bridge.......Just like te sedan styling, these and flush deck have line I cannot resist......
#4:...41 marinette aft cabin, plentyful and I would search for one of the others for a while before going here......
Well, thats me in a nutshell, I hope to meet some avid boaters on here and enjoy learning more about the care and feeding of these wonderful aluminum boats.
So far I have found 3 of the 28's very close to home.
#1 is a 28 twin with new engines in the early 2000's and 300 hours on them now, nice clean hull but needing a lot inside. $6500 might buy it...
#2 is a 28 single that I do not know much about other than everyone says she is a nice and good example, not looked personally yet. $5000 might buy it...
#3 is a 28 single that I do not know much about beyond pictures so far but it is at asking $7500 with a good trailer...
