WHAT CAUSES HEAD TO FILL UP AND NOT FLUSH? I BELEIVE IT IS ELECTRA FLUSH RARITAN . WAS WORKING FINE UNTIL I PUMPED IT OUT FOR THE FIRST TIME(NEW BOAT FOR ME, BOAT SAT UNUSED FOR A COUPLE YEARS). MOTOR RUNS JUST FILLS THE BOWL.
ALSO WHY IS THERE A SHUT OFF VALVE ON THE PUMP OUT LINT LINE ?

shut off is probably to direct the waist overboard instead of to the holding tank, unless you have a treatment system in place it is illegal to pump it directly overboard. As for the bowl not emptying there is probably something blocking the path. start at the macerator pump by the head, usually where I find most blockages. Brick wall

Could be that the vent is clogged.

thanks for the reply. i will check the vent first ,then start at the macerator.

the shut off is on the pump out hose. this hose runs thru the illegal discharge unit then to the deck topside pump out fitting.
was wondering if the valve (gate valve) might have froze open , interfering with the vacuum? don't know if it would matter. did not seem like it wanted to pump out so i turned the valve. i think it opened , pumped out. tried to shut valve don't think the valve closed,valve handle keeps turning.
