anyone have any pics of a bushing replacement on a old marinette (with the top brace).i remembered jeff's sight but the one on his is a newer style.mine has a brace from above the packing nut that runs forward to the heavy cross brace.also there is a hose clamp around the packing nut.its leaking and has alot of play in it.there is less than 1\4" between the nut and brace.

I just finished the similar problem "FIX" , although mine was drastic.
I noticed the leak and loose fit and had the marina pull my boat.
When I disassembled the entire setup I found the prior replacement of the rudder bushings had been done quite different from the recomendations.
The bushings had been installed in one piece and at the LOWER portion of the rudder tube/log.
This allowed salt water to remain in the top area and slowly eat away at the metal.
Thankfully I pulled it when I did since one of them crumbled in my hand when I tried to clean it.
I ended up trying for weeks to find a quality welder to show up and weld new pieces on the top of the tubes so reinstall was possible.
NOTE: I had them both cut off and 1 3/4 O.D. pipe welded in place so a standard hose 1 3/4 could be used intead of a 2 inch with a rubber spacer.
