Anyone have a lead for something like this? Prefer new, but they seem to be hard to find :(

Also - anyone have experience using a 15hp carb on a 9.9 Johnson/Evinrude? Any issues?

Thx.

eBay on the motors. I run a 65 hp Evinrude triple carb on my Merc 25, if that helps.

One of my boating neighbors put a 15 hp carb on his 9.9 hp Johnson. His dingy can almost keep up with my Logic with a 25 hp Merc on it. Adding 5 hp to your Johnson is a good thing. No issues from the change.

A word on "9.8" and "9.9" horsepower outboards: Many lakes have max power restrictions that say "under 10 hp only", so everybody makes a cheater motor. In many cases they derate a 15 hp motor with a smaller carb. Other cases make a special block with milder porting in addition to the smaller carb, so you won't get the full 5 hp increase (but the bigger carb will help).

Jeff

PS: You'd be amazed at how many 10 + hp motors are running around with "9.8" or "9.9" stickers on them. Then there's super cheaters like me, with "25" hp labeling (to trick the insurance company--they cover dinks to 25 hp at no extra cost). My 50 and 65 hp outboards are labeled "25". Shameless!
