Hi All

My husband and I bought a 47 foot 1962 Marinette. It needs love and care on the outside. What is the best way for us to paint it. Or should i say go about it. Please if anyone can help that would be great.

Also we are tring to find pics of a boat like ours but there seem to be none out there.

Thanks

If you would post a picture of yours I'm sure that this group will come up with lots of good info for you. They helped me identify my 1966 Overnighter...not intentionally though, but be assured you have found the well of information of all that is Marinette.

You can find another old BigM here http://backyardboatyard.com/

Welcome Elaine.

I am in dc right now but my 32' is in merritt island florida, near cocoa. I would also like to see photos of your boat. A lot of us use photobucket.com and put a link to our photos in our post.

Painting skills among member vary. I am from the quick and dirty school: metal etch, epoxy primer, rolled on single-part urethane. Check out the posts in the relevant parts of the forum, there is an encyclopedia there.....

Okay, so the railings are tiny compared to the whole side of the boat! But I did (finally) get around to repainting the aft railings, and it came out great. I used Petit one part polyurethane and a foam brush. There's darn little brush strokes visible, and it was easy!

Elaine,

Glad To have U & the husband on board As some one will more than likely tell U "Preparation" is 90% of a Great looking paint job. You can get a lot of good advice from this site because if it's been done to a BigM someone has done it right & someone has improved on it Whistle don't be hesitant to ask questions because the members on this site are more than willing to help one another out Applause again welcome on board a great BigM site Applause

You'll have bad times, but they'll just wake you up to the good times you weren't paying attention to

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way.I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.
